Traditionally, families make their Christmas pudding on Stir-Up Sunday – the last Sunday before Advent – with each family member taking their turn to ‘stir up’ the mixture and make a wish for the year ahead. A silver sixpence is added to the mix, and when the pudding is enjoyed on Christmas Day, whoever gets the slice containing the coin receives wealth and good luck throughout the year to come.
This year, Stir-Up Sunday is on 26 November. We’ve joined with The Royal Mint to give away all the utensils you need to make a pudding from scratch, including
the crucial lucky silver sixpence! Along with the coin, 10 readers will get a specially commissioned Royal Mint Christmas pudding recipe, a mixing bowl and a wooden spoon. The Royal Mint silver sixpence is available from The Royal Mint website.
